With the kids

Children under 12 receive free admission in various Antwerp museums. And it’s never too early to introduce them to culture. Museums explain art and history from the child’s perspective with special sheets which they can fill in, arts and crafts assignments and much more. You can find out more about the family packages on the website or at the ticket desk.

With teens and students

Thanks to the Government of Flanders many museums cost exactly 1 euro for 12 to 16-)year olds. Challenge your teenager by letting him or her plan the museum visit, which is bound to make for a very interesting trip. Teens feel at home in museums because of the multimedia which are used to make the visit an interactive experience.

Students also like the fact that museum visits only cost 1 euro because life in student housing can often be very expensive. Thanks to the culture vouchers issued by university colleges or universities they can visit museums, cinemas, the opera, etc. for a fraction of the price. Culture is a good way of shaking off some of that study-related stress. And if you’re looking for a quiet place to study then head to Museum Plantin-Moretus, the Rubenanium and the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library. Students can also consult reference works here.

A free museum visit

On normal days adults pay an 8 euro admission fee in many Antwerp museums but you can also visit museums for free. It's almost like a well-kept secret: on the last Wednesday of every month people can visit museums for free. This applies to all the museums in the Musea & Erfgoed group such as MAS, the Red Star Line Museum and Museum Plantin-Moretus. We recommend booking in advance for some museums.

Middelheim Museum is free all year round. With over 200 sculptures in its permanent collection and another 200 temporary loans the open-air museum has plenty of treats in store for you. What’s more, you can also enjoy the museum’s verdant surroundings and have a picnic among the sculptures.

Are you an Antwerper but do you not have an A card yet? Then apply for one as you receive a free admission to a swimming pool, a performance in a cultural centre and much more for a start-up fee of only 3 euros. And what’s more, you receive free admission to the permanent collections of the museums of the Musea & Erfgoed group.
